About Crunch Labs
Crunch Labs is a small, independent studio that builds simple, free tools.
We make calculators for everyday US federal tax questions – how much the new tips or overtime deduction is worth, what comes out of a paycheck, what self-employment tax is due – because the official rules are public but spread across long IRS pages, forms and PDFs. Our aim is to turn those rules into tools that give a clear answer and show exactly how it was reached.
How we keep the numbers right
- We take every rate, cap and threshold directly from official sources: irs.gov (revenue procedures, news releases, forms and instructions), ssa.gov and the public law text on congress.gov.
- Each calculator page lists those sources and the date we last checked them.
- Our formulas are tested against the IRS's own tables and examples and against the exact phase-out and wage-base edges before anything is published.
- When something has not been published yet (for example 2027 brackets), we say so and leave it out rather than guess.
Independence
We are not affiliated with the IRS, the Social Security Administration, any government agency, or any tax preparer, bank or adviser. The site is free to use and may be supported by advertising, which never affects the results.
Contact
We don't run a contact form, and the calculators don't collect what you type. If you spot an error or a figure that has changed, please note the calculator, the inputs you used and a link to the official page that shows the correct figure – that lets us check and fix it quickly.
Results are estimates for general information only. Please read our terms and disclaimer and privacy policy.
